Even with that impressive cold shot in January, the first 2/3rds of this winter is the second warmest on record in the CONUS
It’s the warmest on record in Canada
Maybe I should invest in some soon to be beach front property along the Mississippi River around here lol

Wouldn’t winter have to start to actually end? Lol. We had 10 days of cold. And a little snow. It started and ended. Though the gfs does have the arctic air coming down next weekend. Dry of course.

12z euro has come north as well.
Has perfect time of day and temps are better.
2-4 inches of concrete for STL south.

I'm done with winter. The kids are riding bikes in the cul de sac after school, the neighbors are coming down to play. Bring on spring

I know everyone is done with Winter inc..myself at times but I'm too much of a winter honk to completely throw the fork in it, the signals scream 3 weeks of interesting weather the indices, MJO etc..I don't know maybe it will just crumble but the end of the Euro has some Cold North and a big build up of moisture South in TX..who knows..plus the 2-4 maybe more for southerns late weekend mon am..heck I'll follow some Snow after the game!!

A meteorologist south of us put on Facebook tonight a map showing over a 50% chance of at least an inch of snow for early next week for Southeast Missouri and Southern Illinois…… I’m not sure that was a good idea lol

I am hoping for no snow sunday night in the metro and all rain so I can go to my families superbowl party and not deal with plowing.

00z gfs has a nice snow too.
However, it does it with a ridiculous surface temperature distribution 😂
Definitely worth paying attention to now

I know she has her cold bias, but wonder if models are starting to pick up on all the signals..indices etc..maybe just wishful 🤔

Only cold air is right under the heaviest band of precip. Dynamics are impressive- jet across the lakes help coupling and keep it from shifting north- closes off to 300. Has over .50 liquid in 3 hours. Lift/ omega thru the DGZ. This would certainly be more than mood snow

Shifted back south some, but has a narrow band of impactful snow for the southern viewing area.

It's crazy that we went from a storm that dropped snow with single digit/sub zero temps a few years ago to two years of "spring like" storms in the middle of winter.

6z EPS looks really good for STL and south.
2-5 inches with ideal time of day for the snow to fall.

Sun is out here for once and 50s today. Feels like summer and as I get older I really do notice a serious boost to energy and mood.
I’ll always root for snow, but there is nothing worse than constant clouds/darkness and cold/dry.
Especially with a toddler.
