Really hoping we can get some rain tomorrow. Hard to imagine there not being some storms developing along the oozing boundary tomorrow night through Friday...but I'm keeping in mind we're in Splitsville, USA. Looks pretty likely that storms that fire across N MO will mostly dissipate by Thursday AM. Hopefully there's enough destabilization to get things going after that...but upper level forcing looks pretty meager after tomorrow. Looks like there's potential for ridge running complexes later next week...somewhere. The ridge may loose it's grip as the deep trof in the EPAC finally breaks down.

The amplitude of this pattern is impressive to say the least...how often do we see a 990mb cyclone across the Plains in June?

Brutal weather for a doubleheader and Busch.
Two wins will make it feel better though.
Temp of 98 and HI of 106 here in the Windy City. Or as you guys in STL will soon call it, a typical June day.

Globals seem to be picking up on the potential for a nocturnal complex working across N MO into the region Friday AM...both the GFS and EURO develop it. Hopefully that holds up...most modeling dissipates the storms along and ahead the front Thursday AM.

Prior to today the top 50 crests at Clarks Fork of the Yellowstone in Edgar have a mean of 8.16 ft with a standard deviation of 0.57 ft, range of 2.1 ft, and maximum of 9.5 ft.
The crest today of 12.98 ft is 6 standards of deviations above the next highest and 8 above the mean. Yikes!

The amplitude of this pattern is impressive to say the least...how often do we see a 990mb cyclone across the Plains in June? This right here, BRTN, is why I'm in your camp on why we won't repeat 2011. In fact, I would not be surprised to see some fantastic weather in July, when it's usually the hottest. Am concerned about Summer not letting go in September into October, though.

Happy birthday Brtn!
Hi-res nam showing quite the MCS come into NW Missouri late tomorrow night and becoming unorganized and then reorganizing before it gets to us early Friday morning.

Definitely looking like a possible MCS late Thursday night into Friday morning, especially if the 3km NAM is to be believed.

Thanks everyone for the Bday wishes. I wish it was cooler, but what'ya gonna do?!
Models are a bit more bullish with the showers and storms tomorrow AM as the front sags into the region. And still showing good potential for a complex to develop tomorrow night into Friday AM. Fingers crossed!

NAMs are showing a 40-50kt rear inflow jet developing with the complex that dives down the MO river valley Friday AM...CAPE is around 2500-3000j/kg so there will probably be a strong/severe wind threat with that. These heat waves usually go out with a bang.
Next week looks potentially active towards the later half of the week as ripples of energy emanating off the Pacific trof top the ridge. The GFS is bullish here while the EURO maintains a stronger ridge and deflects a lot of that. Hopefully it's wrong and the GFS is more realistic with it's ring of fire setup.
