100F is still very much on the table. Remember, that maximums are often throttled more by the dry adiabatic lapse rate and dewpoint in the planetary boundary layer than by the duration of the solar insolation. Even a couple of hours of 600+ W/m2 or irradiance is enough to get us to this threshold.

bdg I know you were asking about this Perfect. This will be awesome. They provide a reasonable default, but then allow us to manually set it as well. I asked them on Twitter if there was a way to manually enter storm motion (I couldn’t find one) and they confirmed there is not. So looks like we’re stuck with the algorithm.

I misread that tweet. By radar operator they mean the actual official radar operator. This is still WAY better than having nothing at all.

Regional power prices are a little on the high side. It's about $500 per MWh here in St. Louis.

Is it me or is that an exceptionally large heat advisory/warning area? I swear in the past the heat warnings were around major cities, not blanketing parts of states. I'm melting taking the dog out, the only saving grace is the blowtorch winds.

Looks like a station or two in Kansas approached 110* today.
I'm not liking the drying trends heading into the rest of the month and possibly into July. Of course it could drastically change, but the !AccuNotWx! 90 day only shows one day with measurable rainfall over the next month. Let's hope that's wrong...

I think a tornado is going to hit within half a mile of me.
Damn it’s loud in Chicago at the moment.

Easy to see the northeastern part of the ridge being run by severe weather, looks like a doozy over Chicago.
At the pool and in the shade it isn't too bad outside with the breeze

100F will do it for the high at the airport.
I got to 96 at my house which is consistent with the -4 difference I see typically see on hot days.

Very intense lightning and some hail, but got off easy compared to some others around me. Looks like some 90mph winds in that little pocket/hook like structure.

Wife is at a conference in Columbia, MO. We were on the phone, she had the Weather Channel on at the same time. She said they were giving a blow by blow of the Chicago situation and said they were pretty animated about it.

I hope no one has plans to visit Yellowstone in the near future. They've had excessive amounts of rain causing landslides and washed out roads. They have evacuated the entire park and closed all the entrances. Gardiner, MT, at the north entrance, is cut off and is without electricity and water.

Regional power prices are a little on the high side. It's about $500 per MWh here in St. Louis. As long as the grid holds, they were threatening hours long rolling blackouts back in April on some news sources if the entire eastern and central portions of the country entered into a prolonged heat spell/wave of this nature or stronger that lasts for days and according to the GEFS that's exactly what's in store, and possibly well past Independence Day. Will be upper 90s and 100s everyday until then? No, probably not. But not much going below 90 degrees either for anything more than a day or 2 (likely this weekend, then that's it).

We’ve seen a pretty steady trend now of what looked like wetter patterns setting up, only to dry up. The overall flow just has the look of drying out. I don’t like it either.

Somewhere it said we hit it last year, but it didn't reach 100*F at Belleville/Scott, AFB or at least I don't think so. Probably didn't hit in Belleville today either, but with 110 HI Plus it really doesn't matter much other than papers numbers.

TWC forecast certainly aren’t perfect, but seeing nothing but 90+ and no rain for the next 10 days is not what you want to see in June

Yep prolonged heat wave is just starting. With a few minor and brief "cooldowns" I would fully expect this to last for quite some time.
