Yeah, dude...the hip and joint pain and night sweats are flat out weird. COVID seems to invade your entire system...it feels way different than anything I've ever picked up in 35+ years. I can still feel it in my lungs nearly 3 weeks later. It seems to stay with you and linger. I could go on, but I'm not going to toe the line of conspiracies here

On a side note. Monday I did test positive with covid, and I am fully vaccinated and it really was nothing at all, except one wierd thing my hips hurt like crazy, and I looked up that covid can cause arthritic like pain temporarily, it woke me out of a sleep last night and comes and goes. With be being 29 and not experiencing pain in my hips like that yet it was quite eye opening for what the folks who suffer from arthritis deal with. But that was one of the wierdest symptons. As someone with severe arthritis I'm glad you're feeling better. I wish mine would go away.

guyatacomputer, I was in highschool then, wasnt that snow a surprise, I think it was supposed to be a 2 to 5 storm and it was a 8 to 11 storm in st.charles county, I was a senior in highschool, and I think it was a hybrid clipper if I am not mistaken.

If I remember correctly that was one of the best over performing storms I can ever remember, 2-4” forecast and we received 8-9” through out the metro area.

I sure hope this isn’t one of those underperforming winters! I just can’t imagine just the two inches we’ve had so far!

Those of you with security or doorbell cameras that face north... take a look this morning around 6:46:30 AM for a good looking fireball just above the northern horizon.

I'll take the cold every time over the sauna-like St. Louis summers. Last year was truly brutal in the humidity department. I can dress for this weather...I can't dress for that hot mess(legally, lol) Me too!!!!!

Agree, different than anything I’d ever experienced. And I don’t care to again.

Starting to see some potential for the cold to shift back west in early February. The question is does it go as far west as it was in late December when we were roasting or not retreat quite that far.
If we can get a smaller retreat west, it puts us in line for some potential storms (like the 18z gfs).
We shall see, but there is definitely danger it retreats too far and we are left hoping for a big March snow.
The weather might be boring now, but what’s happening now is determining our February fate.

Since we failed to cash in in January (yes it still has 10 days to go, but trends look poor for anything of note), February is kind of our last hope. We could see a fast flip to Spring in February or March. The MJO is the key, but as mentioned in a earlier post; if it emerges from the C.o.D, or neutral circle into Phases 4, 5 or 6 then the final nail is driven into the horrible Winter of 2021-22's coffin especially for the immediate metro and points southeast. At least temp-wise its colder then 2011-12 and 2015-16, but snow-wise is just as pathetic if not more so. Re-emergence into phases 7, 8, or even 1 could be a saving grace.

Been lucky and never had to deal with Covid. I'm Vaccinated and boosted with Pfizer mRNA, and always wear my mask in indoor public spaces except when eating, I've had some slight 'down' days but never bother to get tested because a positive test means I can't work. I figured if something is bad enough that I can't work I just call off that day and go from there. I just say I have a migraine or something, and nobody thinks anything of it. Usually gone in a day or 2 anyway. I figured if I was going to contract it, I would of already due to my grocery store cashiering job and shuttling mom between doctors appointments/errands, etc. I think dad or mom might of gotten it and got sick, but dad works from home anyway, and mom's on disability and doesn't work both vaccinated and boosted as well. We just never bothered to get tested. When mom did have to test for medical procedures, she was always negative though. My Uncle has contracted it 3 times working as a nurse in several states (does nursing, contract work).

I just checked my cams, the only exciting thing they caught today was the neighbor accidently driving into the home of the other neighbor.

The thing about covid - the course of action should be teh same whether you have covid, flu, common cold, or any other virus. Stay away from people, and drink fluids. I never had a positive test, but I never tested during symptoms, and I always waited until several days after symptoms resolved before I'd test, so that I can establish a negative reading and feel reasonably confident that i could go out and not spread it. This last go - around, I know I was exposed to confirmed positives. I got sick - high fever 103.8. I was vaccinated and boosted. There are lingering symptoms, including frain bog. For me the symptoms were swollen legs especially ankles and sharp random sudden pains in my legs and neck. The pains would last a moment or two. The cough came later in course, sometimes not able to catch a breath without coughing. Still dealing with fatigue. Could hv been the flu, could hv been covid, or something else. Don't know, and don't care. Ppl are getting covid multiple times, so it does no good knowing, although I suspect covid as I was in direct exposure to those who confirmed via testing. I only test prior to hanging out with people and I only hang out with people if I am symptom free.

So, is there any hope on the horizon for a decent snow this year? If not, when do the sacrifices begin? Should we begin lining them up now?

Yes as you all have alluded to it is a wierd virus. I personally actually only tested positive in the back of my throat not in the nose.
I also work in healthcare as an EMT and am exposed to everything.
I am very happy that I am vaccinated and I am not the type to ever push the vaccine on anyone as I believe that is their prerogative and not mine.
However lord only knows how bad it would of been if I was not vaccinated. Thats what is sad nobody knows enough about this virus still. All we can do is try our best. I never worried about it personally for my own health, but I always worried about it for my parents and grandparents.

Probably just the nam doing nam things but I think if you extrapolate the 00z run it would look pretty good early next week.
The way it splits that lead northern wave off and loads the energy in the southwest has my attention.

The weird symptoms, weird spreading habits, and relatively quick mutations are what happens when you genetically screw with a virus. I’m not here to debate whether GOF research was funded by us or not, and if so who was responsible, etc. By now, the bat theory is out the window. What is clear is that GOF was being done, and it either intentionally or unintentionally escaped the lab. The whole thing was a preventable mess IMO.

As much potential as a 2nd grade pitcher making the pros, but at least the ingredients are all located somewhere in the Midwest.

I had covid for the second time this past week. First time last January included a lot of nausea and other "odd-feeling" symptoms. This second time around, felt exactly like any other cold/flu I've had in my life minus the fever. Got Pfizer in April.
This time around, it started with a sore throat last Wednesday but tested negative on two nose swab tests (Wed/Thu) and finally tested positive on Friday when my nose clogged up and started experiencing nasopharangeal symptoms.
Worst day was Saturday night into Sunday. Feeling mostly back to normal.

Even when we do get a glorious snowfall, 9 times out of 10 it turns into a mess the next day or two. We really should appreciate the week of pure winter we recieved last February...because we may never see something like that again in our lives...who knows. What I do know is that I've never seen it snow like that at or below zero before or really even close to it and I never remember it snowing for days straight...even if it didn't amount to that much. We just don't really see that kind of weather that around here.
