Little light sleet/snow mix in far northern Ste. Gen county. A little more pronounced on radar than I was expecting.

Sure looking like some snow squall potential along and just behind the true arctic boundary up north that will be pushing in towards sundown.

I’d be keeping a close eye on Monday-Tuesday for a potential snow
Models are showing a cut off low ejecting and another lobe of cold air and clipper energy coming down in the NW flow
Lots of moving pieces but could be something there

In a shocking turn of events the Euro is now showing the potential for a winter storm in our area Tuesday. GFS has the deep southern low coming close enough as well. GEM keeps it over the Gulf of Mexico but has a decent band of snow coming through the area.

NASA is now saying Hunga Tonga erupted with up to 6 megatons of TNT equivalent kinetic energy. By comparison Mt. St. Helens erupted with 7 megatons of kinetic energy.

STGoutdoors, hopefully this is a sign of something to track in the coming days. I really dislike all this cold with nothing to track.

One thing I find interesting as well is Chicago is forecasting temps the same if not slightly warmer than st.louis for tonight through friday. I know its a small thing but, having family in Chicago they are almost always 10 to 15 degrees colder than us most days. Just a weird winter

I’m still surprised all our schools down here are releasing. Is that virga up north actually gonna do something when it gets here or what? Nothing going on down here and the little tiny bit from early has blown away to China by now.

Nothing going on down here and the little tiny bit from early has blown away to China by now. This is a tricky little system...there's definitely potential for impacts but given the warm antecedent conditions down your way it was probably overkill to release early. Always a tough call in situations like this.

Definitely not getting any precep around the metro today with this kind of dry air in place

Sleet/rain mix 7 miles west of Perryville. Went from 36-33 degrees within that 7 miles. As for schools releasing early, I have been in education for 16 years. There are very few “correct” and easy calls when releasing kids early. Our district runs 20+ Bus routes on roads that aren’t easy to drive on a nice, sunny day. You throw into that hundreds of kids and teachers driving, and it makes for a stressful situation for our admin team to call and when. Following 2 bus accidents last year when a storm blew up early, one that could’ve been major that involved a semi that couldn’t stop, I would much rather error on the side of caution.

Definitely not getting any precep around the metro today with this kind of dry air in place Yeah, the drying in the low-levels is probably going to really limit any precip chances across the metro. Still think we could get some flurries or a short-lived snow burst but that's about all we can hope for. Wasted cold for sure.

There's the arctic air...like a smack to the face! . Snow squalls related to the cold front in Mid-Missouri? Barely a flurry has broken through the dry layer but yes, definitely the arctic airmass squeezing out some flakes. The boundary is pretty well defined about a hundred miles N of where WPC has the polar front drawn to our South.
