Almost home. Ran the gamut of all mother nature could throw at us on the drive out and the drive back. Seems like we got everything but hail and sun. Thoroughly enjoyed the thunderboomers. đ Wife and I were commenting that over the 4 day holiday period we don't think we saw one minute of sunshine.

Looks like a lobe of more concentrated sn sh might ride down the river and affect st louis and points east in a couple hours. Maybe even a light coating in spots.

Just my thoughts...I've been eyeballing the time period between the 10th and 20th as well for our next accumulating snow; I'm visualizing something along the lines of an inch or two of snow possible. I'm thinking 1 to 3 for December as a whole. Uncertainty in the last 10 days of December with how SSW behaves for us. Majority of the precip in December will of course be liquid, and the lion's share of our snow events will be the wrap-around kind from departing systems. The winter as a whole... I'm thinking this will be a bookend kind of winter, with the majority of our snow coming late in February into March - that time of year, it's the concrete kind of snow. Magic number 20...I think we've had 2 so far at Lambert?
Winds are still rattling the house, but I see the wind advisory was not renewed. Glad I'm waiting until next weekend to put my outdoor lights up.

Yeah that band moving slightly NW to the SE parallel to the Mississippi looks likely to bring a dusting across metro especially on elevated surfaces! Edit: starting to loose steam, still will see more dendrites.

Appears to be some icy bridges this morning, with all the wrecks showing up! Wonder if IDOT will get slammed like modot does because of the black ice on the roads today by the media and others.

Appears to be some icy bridges this morning, with all the wrecks showing up! Not convinced ice was the cause for those. In the video I have seen the roads looked mainly dry...and temperatures have been 33 to 34....not sure snowfall intensity was enough to overcome that temp and create the kinds of issues we saw today. Not saying it was not ice...but I would have expected more widespread problems in more places if it was.

I seriously doubt that there was any ice up on roadways this AM...elevated or not.

That system in the 7-day time frame has some interest if we can get the southern energy and cold air to work together.

I've noticed the teleconnections page hasn't refreshed since mid last week. Any reason for this?

I didn't notice it during the morning show. But I did notice during the Katherine Hessel report at 11 AM that she had taped during the morning show that there was (probably measurable) snow in the grass on the grass around her as she had the Troy truck accident in the background. That's way more snow than we had in St. Peters. So I don't think an ice patch can be dismissed as a cause for the accident.

Speaking of Katherine, I thought she also said she scraped snow/ice off the concrete barriers by the gravel piles where she was located I didn't notice it during the morning show. There were pics of snow on the ground in ne MO on the stlNWS twitter site. ALso someone had a pic of snow covered road on the east side that was under a persistent band of snow late last night. I think some icy spots are quite possible.

850mb low is close to our wheel house (SE MO, border with IL, KY, just north of Memphis, TN) for next Mon late into Tues on the 12z GFS run! The 06z GFS was further north with the 850mb low and had it passing almost directly over us, but spitted out more digital snow haha. Interesting trends, this one will be fun to watch like worldseries said.

Looks like STL will sit on the western edge of the arctic blast, so it will be below normal but the 0 degree stuff will be further north and eventually east.
