Wind advisory midnight to 6pm Sunday. We need wind for about a week, along with dry weather to dry this crap out.

I think the 9/10th is a time period to watch. Definitely looks like a familiar setup for a strong secondary low to develop after the lead wave brings the cold air down

So where are we at for the year on precip and how does 2019 now rank overall? As of 5pm on the 30th the airport is at 52.14". The highest YTD value is 53.41" from 2008. |

The WAA wasn't as strong as predicted. The fog played a role in us not seeing the 60s! Important to note regarding bigger low pressure systems this upcoming winter if there's a trend.

They posted a wind advisory at Branson from 9pm tonight until 6 pm tomorrow. Gusts 40 to 50 mph. I decided to head back this afternoon instead of risking a white knuckle drive back here in the early morning. The drive down Wednesday wasn't bad. I had waited until late morning before we left here, and winds had died down a lot. Glad we came back today since they have also posted the wind advisory for here too. The 5th wheel is nice except pulling it in the wind is no fun.
It looks like we had a lot of rain here based on the gravel washed out of my diveway. It poured down there last night, and when we left this afternoon they had 4 gates open in the dam. It rained until 8 am, then quickly cleared and got to almost 70 degrees.

The deck was damp this morning. Don't know if it was from snow, sleet or rain because it was all done by the time I got up.
But the wind woke me up...again. In a sleepy stupor I first thought it was thunder.

I know things look quiet over the next 2 weeks with seasonal to slightly abv avg. values temp wise, but I have to wonder if a big shot of cold is in store as we head towards Christmas and onward. That shot in November was very intense and one we hadn't seen since November of 2013. Last year's was close, but not quite as sharp.

Models have been predicting a potential SSW and associated disturbance of the PV in the 10th-20th range. These events are correlated with increased winter weather during the event, followed by mild weather for about 2 weeks. So, I would say something interesting in the 10th-20th range and then around New Year’s a more sustained winter pattern conducive to snow and cold. Obviously, these events are hard to predict and depending on if it is reflective or absorptive, impacts to our weather could vary substantially. |

It looks like November finished right at the -5 mark for Lambert. Not a bad start and hopefully we can see negative anamolies till at least February. By the way, today marks the one year anniversary of the tornado outbreak just to our N across central Illinois. Taylorville got hit hard IIRC. December of last year was very mild. Not looking to repeat.

I second your thought unclesam. Steep lapse rates, strong backside cyclonic flow, some lift, just enough moisture, and cold 850mb temps made/make for some pretty mood snow today as we ring in Dec and the last month of 2019!

I'm tardy with the report from the Davis on the roof in north St. Pete. It reported 2.15" over the weekend. Some pretty insignificant flurries going on right now.

Almost home. Ran the gamut of all mother nature could throw at us on the drive out and the drive back. Seems like we got everything but hail and sun. Thoroughly enjoyed the thunderboomers. 😁
