So, we have been in desperate need of a new thread for a long time... and today offers a great way to clean the slate...with a little Christmas in July... or at least some real snow! We drove up and over Loveland Pass today and came across quite a bit of snow...much more than usual for this time of year. There was a least one guy skiing...and a group of young folks snowboarding. There was enough snow for a snowball fight with my son...and even a tiny snowman! It was beautiful! More pics to come later.

Chris, I like a idiot drove Loveland Pass in winter with chains in a huge old Chevy Impala with my scared of Eisenhower Tunnel brother who came out to ski at Keystone and Vail in 1984! Never again! Glad u had a beautiful day to drive and have fun!

Glad to see your enjoying the Rockies, it’s been a great year moisture wise and we are not complaining about that one bit. Monsoon season having a hard time of developing this year it seems like.

We honeymooned in Winter Park the first week of June 1993. It started snowing there the day before we left. And when we left at 4 am to get back to STL in one day Loveland Pass was covered. And the road signs warning us of the curves were caked with wet, heavy snow making them unreadable. Adding that was still dark made for an interesting first couple of hours of driving.

Proof this airmass is off the charts amazing. This morning Austin, TX set an all time record low for July of 59 degrees. In other words this is the first time ever that Austin has dropped in to the 50s in the month of July

I’d be happy with the 80s the rest of the summer! Ok? Thank you!

So what are the chances we are done with the oppressive Heatwave” heat or can we see one more hit before Fall?

I will second that. The amount of energy that is tapped into and released is nothing short of amazing, beautiful, and very humbling at the same time. Thanks for sharing. On a side note....this weather is awesome. Heading to Clearwater Lake tomorrow. Weather looks like 3 Top Ten Days in a row. That is on top of the 4 we just had.

Certainly lots of time left on the calendar for a heat wave or two, but the GFS keeps the NW flow alive and well in the medium and long range. Things look easy to take for the foreseeable future.

I'm glad we're not in Europe at the moment. Nasty heat. They've had a ridiculous summer so far. I just read that there is a call to start naming heat waves now like winter storms

I'm glad we're not in Europe at the moment. Nasty heat. Paris shattered their all time record high by 4F. Many other all time record highs have been broken as well.

I'm glad we're not in Europe at the moment. Nasty heat. I was just thinking the same thing. I thought, man our Summer has been humid and warm not including last week which was our first heat wave. I was like, I wonder if the other side of the globe has been hot!
