Yep. Last night it was looking like a significant severe weather event might unfold especially in northern Missouri. This morning...not so much. Yeah. The third day of a severe weather pattern is tough. Things get so turned over that you can count on models being wrong, and almost always instability being less.

Some of the places in the Southeast Metro may need some sort of hydrologic advisory

Still a few days out... but sometimes these NW flow shortwaves this time of year can bring some surprises. Sunday the NAM shows good lapse rates... some dry air thru the hail zone with lot of CAPE. Wouldn't expect organized storms... but any storms that do get going will have hail chances if the NAM is correct.
GFS is more tame... has quite a bit of cloud cover here Sunday and much less unstable. Euro would seem to have the best chance mainly south of STL.

Is anyone else getting big wind on the backside of this? Gusts approaching 40 and sustained has to be 25 or so

Yes... it's pretty windy. My guess is we have a bubble high behind the rain to our southeast that is intensifying the local pressure gradient over MO between the bubble high and the synoptic low over northwest Missouri.

Had a report via facebook about storm damage in/near Cuivre River state park. Anyone been up in that area today? The report included some outbuildings destroyed on a farm and trees down inside the park. It is the first I've hard of it so wondering how accurate it is.

Would someone please give me an idea on what next Thursday-Sunday may bring? Doing a 3 day kayak trip down macoupin creek to the Illinois river. Kinda concerned about high-water and or storms during the venture. Wish we would have went this weekend, the creek is running just about perfect now! The only reason I am asking is because my niece has to take off work and may be able to change dates if next weekend is a washout. Thanks

Thanks That's tough when you're dealing with the creek in the spring period. One or two days of heavy rain and........ When you're talking about 7 to 10 days out realistically, I'd say go ahead with it and if it doesn't look good by next Tuesday....... this is spring you know. You got a chance of heavy rain about once a week.

Thanks Hard to say anything specific but it does look like an active weather pattern may set up along a boundary through the area so its pretty well impossible to pin anything down at this point. Showers and storms definitely possible though.

Driving to work yesterday morning around 5:30 was an adventure. When the wind and rain hit about 2 miles from the house, I was down to 30mph and could barely see the road. Funny thing is the Davis recorded a gust of 32mph in the morning and I hit 35mph yesterday evening.

The pattern setting up almost reminds me of an MCS pattern. Hard to say exactly when and where the worst weather will happen but a kayak trip could be iffy

One lonely cell going through the area, and it's enough to cancel the softball tournament in Marissa. The kids worked on the field most of the day today to get it ready...no luck. Feel free to come down to Marissa tomorrow to test drive a Ford and earn some money for the school, though.

Kilauea is getting very active. I have always kept up with videos and updates on their website here One of my obsessions growing up in school...weather, volcanoes, and earthquakes. I got to experience quite a few earthquakes growing up in So Cal.

The end of next week may get very active as we launch right into MCS season. A stalled west to east boundary...on the south edge of the stronger westerlies...could see multiple rounds of severe weather wed and onward.

Hopefully KY and driving there on Friday and returning the following Monday won’t be too awfully bad! My once a year visit with bro and family! Sigh! Maybe it’ll change!

Then this was the cell that blew up right after the other one posted above. It went directly over me. It dropped pea size hail and smaller. I reported it. 👍
