GFS & CMC want to keep some of the residual vorticity associated with Alberto around (even retrograding) in the long range thus blunting the expansion of thermal rigding into our area. ECM on the other hand scoots that on out allowing 850mb temps of 30C to work into western MO in the long range...ouch.

Yep that's a confirmed tornado. Damn...that's an impressive velocity signature.

Some of the same areas of Madison and St. Clair Counties that got deluged early this morning are under a severe storm warning again. Hope those ditches in the flat lands had time to drain today.

Just a shout out to who ever controls the On Screen Graphics at KTVI, TY for putting the Crawl at the top of the screen. Effective, but not in the way for those who are not in the warned area!!

Think this might be a tornado? That's impressive. Here's what it looks like in GR2Analyst. Note, this is a high resolution image. You may have to open it up in it's own browser tab to see the full resolution.

Yep that's a confirmed tornado. Damn...that's an impressive velocity signature. Even a tiny donut hole where the tornado is located. Very impressive signature These little donut holes are almost always just BWERs (radar shooting through the echo overhang), but I'm pretty sure that one was not. You could see the weak echo region further to the west which I verified with lower CC values and an adjacent ZDR arc. I'm thinking that was hydrometers (given ring of high CC) centrifuged away from the tornado mesocyclone. Must not be much in the area (?) as I didn't see a reflectivity debris ball / low CC debris hole signature, but it was confirmed as a tornado by spotters. Lucky to see something like that; usually we only see that with those mobile X-band radars. But it was only about ~15 miles from the NEXRAD site which probably helped.

The flash flood in Ellicott City in Maryland yesterday looked pretty bad. You find a lot of videos on YouTube. They actually had a catastrophic flood in 2016 as well and installed a new flood emergency alert system. I believe that's what's going off in the background of this video. I've seen both floods described as 1-in-1000 year events.

Gonna get close to 100 degrees today. Already in the low/mid 90s throughout the metro with nearly 4 hours left of strong heating.
If we do manage 100+ when was the last time we've hit the century mark in May, even 2012 didn't quite do it.

Much nicer up here today on the lake.
It really is cooler by the lake lol.

Terrible news on the Alberto deaths.
The thermometer never made it past 93F at the airport today thus no record was broken.
Our pool made it up to 89F today.
