continues to just pound us, our backyard is already turning into a river. Flood advisory for Madison and St. Clair until 430. Sounds like they need to expand that to northern St. Louis ETA - spoke too soon. At 123 they did add NE St. Charles and Northern St. Louis

Just moved the car inside the garage after getting bounced out of bed with a warning. Wasn’t expecting that, guess I should know better. Boy, was it humid yesterday.

One of my favorite things to do is watch a distant lightning storm on a warm summer night. This one has been awesome to watch the last few hours

Finally fizzled after almost 3 hours. And I don't think we got it drop. Disappointing.
Going to be interesting to see what the rain total is for the airport from that. And they didn't even get the heaviest of it.

I woke up this morning to find our new deck umbrella on the other side of the deck. I immediately thought some kids got into our backyard and moved it. But then I hear there were storms. They didn’t wake me up. Where can I get a look at the radar loop overnight to see if maybe we got something? Maybe just the gust front cane through? The umbrella moved NE to SW. I’m just trying to piece together what happened.

That was one heck of a show last night by Mother Nature. Driving from Hillsboro to Affton last night, saw the impressive lighting show the entire ride while the storm was up in Alton and north. Then it finally hit the Affton/Webster line and just died and fizzled out. Crazy to see it pour looking north with cloud and rain and then look south to see clear skies with Jupiter and the moon shinning bright.

I’m just trying to piece together what happened. It looked like the storms north of here all day fizzled around 8PM or so. Later on after 11Pm they rejuvenated and got nasty again moving towards the metro. SVR T-Storm warning came out for couple of counties in IL, including Madison and for NE St. Charles county. I dont see evidence of any other warnings but went to bed and wouldnt know unless it was for St. Louis County. Did have lightning, small hail and heavy rain here (1.5"). Radio said at least 4,000 withoit power earlier in St. Louis County. Just got in ourselves from picking up and cutting up limbs and other debris from storm. Every forecast I heard before bed said storms were done. Just the way it goes, we're not in charge! Oops! Jusr saw in email STL County did get a warning at 1:58AM. Must have been sound asleep and didn't hear the radio alert.

Why is Alberto still called "subtropical"?

Any more hail- looks like some good hail just to your east sorry, I went back to bed just before you wrote this. The hail only lasted here for the first 5-10 minutes of the initial downpour, tops. After that, all tropical downpours and wind gusts and some crazy lightning.

Well that explains it. The gust front did move through. NE to SW.

Record high of 93* from 2012 broken today at Lambert by 1pm.
I don't like the trends for this summer...

Why is Alberto still called "subtropical"? Was still kinda under the influence of the upper level trough over the Gulf and lacked deep convection all the way around. The satellite presentation still doesn't look great this afternoon being very asymmetrical. Still has that sub/extra tropical look to it. Actually I can pretty much see right down to water near the center of rotation on visible satellite right now.
