In my 17 years of being here and working on base, I have never seen them go to mission essential for weather other than snow. That was a weird email to read. Better safe than sorry.

That's a great thing for the metro, maybe just some light sprinkles I hope. We do not need anymore rain Just because warm front isn’t lifting that N doesn’t mean ingredients aren’t there to get something severe. There are so many people that read this forum for actual forecasts and predictions. That MCS is coming in like a bowling bowl and it’s not going to get knocked down. So, saying maybe some light sprinkles isn’t the best wording.

I apologize, I am not saying the southern folks aren't under the gun, I'm just saying for the immediate st.louis and st.charles county metro, which is a high population center that might be spared which is a good thing. Im being optimistic. If you live along and south of highway 50 though watch out

Boy that cell west of me it looks like it's going to go north of DeSoto but man, that looks like it has some big hail in it

On days with severe weather, it’s probably best for most of us to only give local reports or ask questions on what’s going on with the set up and let the handful of those who we all know have that knowledge give us updates on how things look to play out. A lot of us are interested in weather enough that we know some things, but in effort to not send mixed info to the many more that read these forums it’s best to limit things a bit so the most important info is readily available in less posts.

I can’t figure out how to post the screenshot of radar but I’m noticing something I’ve not seen before and wondering what is the cause of it… on radar ahead of that lead storm there is a bowed line of lightning marching along way out ahead of all of the precipitation by like 20 miles+… What causes that?

You see that sometimes with intense storms. The lightning will occur far away from the core of the storm in the anvil.

Looked like there was a cc drop there west of Bourbon for a short while but rotation has broadened out. Might be ramping back up soon though.

I saw the same thing but i’m not so certain it will re organize. I looked like it got the hook right as it hit the front but now the front is midway up the cell now

Could someone please explain what storm cycling is? Thanks… Super cell storms sometimes get over run by their own rear flank downdrafts (RFD).. when that happens the tornado threat while decreased, momentarily, will cycle in such a way that it will allow the storm to progress further down stream and get into the air that is unaffected by the RFD and put another tornado on the ground.
