DISCUSSION...Numerous robust thunderstorm clusters are gradually merging into a larger complex early this evening. Over the last hour or so, an expanding precip shield is beginning to evolve and an MCS now appears imminent as the convection propagates southeast. Sustained southwesterly 1km inflow appears to be aiding new updrafts along the western flank of the MCS over northern MO. The majority of large hail reports have been noted across this region, and latest MESH data suggests this continues. Given the upscale growth and the available reservoir of instability immediately downstream over east-central MO into central IL, there is increasing confidence the leading edge of this activity will spread beyond ww0409 shortly. New ww may be warranted soon.

Sold out concert at Riverport tonight, including my kid and a bunch of her friends. Thankfully she’s at least able to read radar, velocities, etc and I gave her a heads up this afternoon.

This is one of the hottest rains I have ever felt. We had a huge downpour of hot rain drops in st.peters. temp is 84 with the heavy rain.

Finally fixed the tipping bucket rain gauge on the Davis earlier and it's recorded a few hundredths so far...not too impressive but enough to knock the dust down.
The Metro region definitely got split by the deeper convection. The W/SW counties are under the gun for strong storms tonight though with that cluster dropping SSE through central MO.

The Davis on the roof in North St. Pete recorded a pathetic .04" last night. He said nothing about the rain being "hot" or not.

Looks like our annual 90 days of hell starts about today... 🥵 🌞
As I get older I plan more and more cooler weather trips every year this year we got Iceland in august and Prague to Paris for the Olympics (might still be warm) and still working on Maine possibly September when the leaves are changing (or Colorado for an elk hunt) 🤷♂️

A recurring memory of vacations is being in cool Canada fishing or high in the Rockies camping. Then tuning in to KMOX radio to listen to Cardinals game and hearing the temp here at home in the upper 80s or low 90s.

Good morning from Nairn, Scotland. Been in-country since last Thursday and it has been drizzly to party sunny and in the 50s most of the time. Glorious! We're not looking forward to summer when we get back!

Looks like we're going to be dealing with waves of tropical moisture and disturbances emanating off the Gulf around the anomalous ridge that develops over the E US tomorrow and into next week. It's a warm, rainy and humid looking pattern for sure. The N/NW flow is going away for a while.
We'll have to keep an eye on storm potential later today into tonight with that wave crossing the Plains...looks like MO is favored for those with the ridge nearby.

CAMs aren't too jazzed about storms getting into our area but that will depend on how long that cluster survives across MO and whether it throws an outflow our way. The GFS wants to develop a low-level confluence zone over us ahead of the lifting disturbance that gets storms going across the Ozarks this afternoon with peak heating. Not really sure how today will go with only subtle forcing mechanisms in play. The story over the next week will be "hit or miss" with lots of dry time but potential for torrential rainfall in spots with the tropical airmass moving in.

And as much as I don't really enjoy mowing grass, I welcome the rain. A lot of farmers either just got corn in the last week or so, or started no-tilling beans after cutting wheat. Now isn't the time for dry and hot.

Now isn't the time for dry and hot. The corn adjacent from the shop I work at is a little over a foot tall and was already getting curled up yesterday afternoon. A lot of crop fields should get a drink at some point during the coming week though...hopefully

Looks like dry air will be a limiting factor for storm potential today...humidity sitting around 30% IMBY currently.
I should really stop looking at the "new" GFS.

Happy Father's Day to all the Dad's out there.
After some miscommunication (on my part) with the rain gutter contractor, I had to go around the roof edge and remove 4" of material for the gutter installation on Monday. Armed with a 4" grinder and numerous 'wafer wheels' and several breaks I was able to get it done yesterday. Still have to go around and de-burr and throw some paint on the edges today. Pretty sore this morning. Certainly not what I had planned for Father's Day.🤪🤪
