Storms have really struggled to get organized around here...kind of surprised with the airmass in place and the heating today. Maybe some lingering CINH and weak forcing played a role. Haven't checked the MESO page. Nice rain though and lots of lightning and loud thunder. Looks like more to come for the Metro and points S. Large dew point depression at the surface and high LFC Usually not a winning combo for sustained severe

If you haven't seen it yet, Timmer got some absolutely amazing drone footage of the Greenfield, IA tornado!

.97 inches of rain in st.peters with those storms.
Had a few 50 mph gust, but glad it was not severe.
My heart goes out to the folks of Greenfield Iowa

SPC has the area in a 15% risk Saturday and Sunday, with a 30% risk for the southern counties Sunday
2024 is becoming a wild severe season

SPC isn’t pulling and punches with the wording for Sunday.

Should we be concerned about weather in St. Charles from 6 pm to 9 pm.? We are supposed to attend a graduation at the Family Arena and concerned about storms/ hail.

Hopefully evening time on Sunday. We are heading for the coast this weekend and part of the family is flying Sunday afternoon

GFS is pretty fast with the system on Sunday which would keep it earlier in the day and likely lessen the severe threat. We'll see how other models trend.

Radar bubbling up pretty good out to the west...looks like decent storm coverage for the Metro and points S this afternoon.

The Euro is more progressive as well. The UKMET looks spicy though.

I have read in several locations that a chaser was one of the fatalities from the Greenfield tornado. Sad.

Hands down the best chaser, but he takes huge risks and is a hype machine. The 4k footage is amazing. He's a weathertainment specialist. The problem is he has driven people to get away too close.

Just the other day in Oklahoma he was lucky his team didn’t get rolled over by a strong tornado when the dom had a computer issue and couldn’t drop down. I know the dominator is built to intercept tors but you always have to have an exit strategy in case something like that happens.
