That was a mean MCS that moved through there. Radar had winds of almost 130 mph just 2k feet off the ground. Currently there are over 1 million customers in Houston without power.

We’re already at 5” for the month 18.85” year to date, and now we are under a flash flood watch down at the farm down in the Shawnee, in Vienna. Supposed to get another 2-3”. So far I’ve only been able to get in one 2 acre plot. I did get 5 acres of food plot disked and 300 feet of flower mix(buckwheat, phacelia, flax, cornflower, baby’s breath, daisy, zennia, alyssum, poppy, dill, marigolds etc) disked and planted today.

I was trying to watch the local Houston channels while I was driving home last night. Some of the traffic cams were almost pitch black.

Massive raindrops with this cell in Arnold, maybe melted hail stones. Impressive amount of moisture the atmosphere is holding lately. At 7.25" for the month at the start of the day.

Hello everyone from western PA! (I'm originally from MO, so don't delete me ) We've been having some very active and interesting weather in the last couple of weeks (you may have seen this viral video - that was about 4-5 miles away from me), including today. Fortunately, I'm perfectly alright! One thing the local meteorologist said during their coverage of the tornado warnings today was that all of these storms in the last couple of weeks that produced tornados have been "low-top" storms. The local met said these types of storms are rare - do the pros from MO agree with that?

Missed rain today by a half mile Need to watch Tuesday for severe potential I was just about to post the same thing. Wednesday could also be a problem though the NWS doesn't go out that far

Except for the gfs showing rain saturday and Monday. And the fact it always rains at some point during that weekend. Yeah. Not bad.

Summer is saying "ready or not here I come" this weekend...phew! The GFS was way out to lunch with the flow pattern several days ago with that non-existent cut off.

Only thing I wonder if tuesday becomes more of a wednesday thing. Seems like the front is slowing down.
But definitely need to keep an eye on it.

Tuesday looks like a volatile setup to our N/NW but around here the forcing is much weaker and will probably rely on lift from the front to get storms going with a substantial EML in place. That will likely favor a line segment with a strong wind threat during the evening hours or overnight. IA looks like ground zero for the tornado threat.
We'll have to see how far south the front gets behind that system for rain and storm chances later in the week. I'd be surprised if it gets as far south as models are showing with ridging across the Gulf states and WSW mid-level flow in place.

Walked around Art on the Square. By the end I was just doing a quick scan before moving on. Too hot to linger, too intolerant of heat to enjoy.

Was there for 40 mins with my Uncle, he was sweating buckets by the end of it and was tired. I was getting sweaty myself but he as worse. Funny how Summer always comes in all suddenly. Looks like models aren't as jazzed up about storms this week, but brings the rain train in Memorial Day week into June. Just hope Dave isn't right or it's going to be a pounder of a Summer. With La Nina taking a bit longer to take control, I'm thinking August will be the worst. But not as bad as he predicts. At least not yet.

I'm still curious how describ can try to watch Houston channels while he's driving.
