Lessons learned from 2017...people trickle into the path of totality slowly. They leave all at once. I can vouch for the fact that I-55 was bumper to bumper from at least Perryville where I was to St. Louis. I'm sure the jam went further south than that though. If our area truly is going to be mostly sunny then it could be worse than 2017. Plan accordingly.

...or I might just take some of the back roads south through the strip pits and around the back side of Sparta down toward Chester to gain another minute or two.
I also have an Acadia that seats 7, and I swear I'm not a serial killer.
Gonna leave early, pack a picnic lunch, grab some bait and hit up pyramid. |

Wowwww looks really good for Monday now. I agree that the weather gods owe us this after the multiple miserable winters we’ve had. I’m targeting my favorite rock climbing destination in southern ill near pomona.

We’re at our farm in Vienna in S Illinois close to peak until Monday. We have friends and family start loading in on Friday with their campers, and others trickling in over the weekend. We’re turning it into a 4 day event. If anyone needs a place to view, they are more than welcome.
BTW, we had several rounds of sleet this afternoon.
