Well I guess my luck has changed, it's currently pouring and we're quickly approaching 1" rainfall for the day already. This is definitely some high PW/deep warm cloud rain.

Looks like the remnant MCV from this morning's activity out west is tracking along 70 and driving these heavy downpours. It's also become quite windy out here at times.

Looks like now the part of missouri that needs to work on the drought the most is ne missouri around Hannibal to quincy where a significant deficit is still present.
Elswhere major relief has occured across a large majority of the state.

Curious if anyone has thoughts on this being a 'possible' winter analog. We have been bombarded with humming birds the last few days. We have 2 feeders outside our kitchen window and we are 'usually' greeted with one dominant bird chasing away all other hummingbirds trying to eat. Yesterday and today I have counted 4 birds on 1 feeder and 5 or the other eating in 'harmony'. That is until a young woodpecker, that has been using the feeders since late spring, comes and perches on 1 feeder. The 4 on the other feeder just keep eating away while the displaced 5 keep buzzing around the woodpecker. Maybe a woodpecker eating from a hummingbird feeder is a sign of a cold/snowy winter. This is all going on while the 2 feeders at the front of the house have 3 or 4 hummingbirds feeding.

I added another .375" overnight. So bizarre how the totals vary so much with individual systems the last 2.5-3 weeks.

Multiple models showing a 600DM 500MB ridge over or just to the east of St. Louis, MO next week. Can't wait! Not every day you get to be under such anomalous heights. Seems like we'll have several 100*F+ days to look forward too with lows in the 80s during the brunt of the heat wave. Looks like heat will last into September with September looking quite hot and bone dry. October and November flip to wetter weather but likely staying on the milder side.
