00z Icon is kind of mean to STL on Sunday and then spins up a beautiful storm by next Wednesday with heavy rain transitioning to heavy snow and a rapidly deepening low.

00z gfs is good for 1-3 inches on Sunday and then has a monster by next Wednesday.
Great runs so far tonight.
Edit: 00z ggem looks nice for next Wednesday as well.

If the GFS is right it's a history making rant in the making. No cold air. I mean like it's way too warm by 5-10 degrees. Of course it's wrong, I'm just pointing out the Bs lol.

Borderline temps are going to be an issue most likely for the Sun system. We all know how we've all been disappointed in the outcome for these types of situations in the past. Hopefully at least one of these next 2 systems (Sun and 25th) trends colder and the shortwave digs a little further south for a more snow friendly track for our area.

00z ggem actually brings down the arctic hammer late next week after the midweek storm.
Widespread subzero temps.
That is an interesting development that meshes with the PV stretch event taking place.

Pivotal weather now has hourly runs of the NBM available. I didn’t even know the NBM was ran every hour.

When has an arctic hammer ever worked out for us???
Seriously, keep that arctic air close, but let’s not be in the middle of it.

Just got done driving to South County in moderate rain and 38°, boy did we dodge a bullet today or what? If I remember this was the storm last week that was showing snow and Chris said he was more interested in the one after that. I sure hope that pans out. I know it has to be a relatively 'normal' occasion for this in January otherwise, seasonal snow totals will be a lot higher than they are. We are within a week now of snow instead of the normal "two more weeks" correct?🤔😊😊

You gotta love how organized Sunday's storm is across KS, only to get sheared to pieces 12 hours later as it approaches.
Sometimes, being a weather enthusiast in this area is like banging your head against the wall...

Looks like the gfs has bent towards the ggem some this morning for a shot of arctic air following the potential midweek storm.
If we get deep accumulating snow, below zero temps could be back for a couple days.

If we get deep accumulating snow, below zero temps could be back for a couple days. I noticed some models were showing a blob of -30*C temps crossing the border towards D10. Hopefully that -60*C airmass stays in Siberia where it belongs!

It is too perfect. 996 from N LA to Memphis to Evansville. You can't draw it up any better. So, two more weeks.
