NWS probably needs to add some POPs Sunday for that cut off energy meandering up the river valley. Should fire off scattered showers and storms.

What happened to the doom and gloom blow torch late September and October? From what I have seen, the next two weeks will be near or even at times below average.

The warmth just lasted an extra week or two...not uncommon some years. Summer's back definitely looks to get broken next week. I wouldn't be surprised to see another stretch of 80s later in the month or October, but we're in the home stretch now.

I love fall! This time of year always gets me excited to think about the upcoming winter and hope for some good storms to track! Love having a place to visit and read/talk about weather. It's almost time to break out the sweaters, hoodies, soups, chili, etc. I've read most of the winter weather predictions and I'm really hoping for a cold and snowy winter.

Fall is a few days away. Calendar wise and weather wise. Finally. Apparently the euro shows a SSW in December. One of the strongest signals for one this early in a while. If so could be interesting. Or not. It's September. Lol.

We got to go to the Cardinals game last night. What a great win! Weatherwise it was terrible. Hot and sticky. The corridors were miserably warm. I was soaked most of the evening. The occasional stray breeze was nice, just not enough. I know it's not unusual at all for it to have been as warm as it was but, gross.

The easterly QBO definitely favors a SSW event or two this winter. We'll have to see if the October Snowfall Advance plays ball.

Dr. Cohen noted the imbalance in arctic sea ice extent between the North Pacific side and the Eurasian to North Atlantic side could enhance the odds of disturbing the polar vortex as well. Starts getting fun to really dig in about a month from now.

Judah is calling for a 87-88 winter. I could live with that ….. I think we had almost 30 inches that year

Peter and Rose... that is funny! Two more fish storms.
Meanwhile, there is little doubt fall will arrive tomorrow! I think daytime temps are likely to stay in the upper 60s with clouds, gustybwinds and showers much of Tuesday. Pack your jackets. Not too concerned about strong storms in these parts.

Looks like once established the fall weather will persist for a couple weeks with upper level low, after upper level low diving in, including one all the way from western Quebec and eastern Ontario retrograding southwestward as the Atlantic keeps machine gunning tropical systems in the central basin. Typhoons look to start recurving off Japan as we get to days 7-10 which should aid in keeping the pattern going for awhile to come. Summer's back is breaking for good this year it appears. Can't rule out a some embedded low-mid 80s every now and then but anything much higher than that looks like a thing of the past after today.
