FWIW...the 12Z cycle is now showing a 1096mb high against a 971mb low. The highest ever recorded pressure on Earth was 1094 set last year.

Little rock recorded sleet this morning. That gives them a trace of snow in March. Stl goes shoeless for the first time in 80 marches

A morel mushrooms worst nightmare... None in my southern spots yesterday... I checked my early spot Sunday and didn't find any. Woods looked just a bit early yet. It's a good thing that they haven't really started fruiting too much with this wind/low RH and cold. We're gonna need some rain by next week.

Record low is 23 tonight at lambert may make a run at it. Freeze warning states low to mid 20s so gonna be close and the record is from 1891 so its an old one. In addition for my flowering fruit trees i put my sprinkler to come on from 1 a.m. to 330 a.m. to spray and coat it with ice just like they do in the south. It jas worked flawlessly before

March was a warm month by comparison. Looks like April might end up a chilly/cold month if the GFS has anything to say about. In fact after this little warm spell this weekend into Next week, temps drop way below normal again and there's even a hint of wet sloppy flakes somewhere in there. If this is true than much of April is going to be thunderstorm or at least severe thunderstorm free around here, but as we get ready to close April and into May the pattern should retrograde and that would than put us in the firing line of some possible decent outbreaks possibly lasting into early June before things settle down. CFS still harping about a drought but has backed off a bit with only a bone dry May which I believe at this point to be doubtful with near normal precipitation overall for the Summer. Long story short don't be surprised if April and March sensible weather-wise have ended up switching places with April weather in March, and March weather in April. Then things battle up in May before shorting themselves out by Summer. Also that super high bdg mention does help play a part in all this, likely causing a sharp drop in the NAO and in time the AO which will be bad news for Canada as they heat up and get wildfires going and we get socked in with late Winter very early Spring weather. If fact I wouldn't be too shocked if Canada ends up with the flash drought this year while we get into a somewhat interesting pattern which could see frequent MCS. Something to watch for sure.

Looks like the light NW wind kept temps from free falling overnight. Still a light freeze but not low/mid-20s for most areas. Return flow may save us again tonight if the ridge departs quickly enough.

Maybe that will save us. Just as long as they aren't protruding much yet and are under the leaves we might just be ok. Big warmth coming next week will get them going then hopefully some rain and storms by the weekend could work out well.

Looking for help! CASH REWARD! Hi guys. I hope this is ok to post here. As many of you know, I am a teacher in the Wentzville School District in Missouri. Yesterday, my students and I launched a weather balloon. This was our second time launching. While last year’s launch was a complete success (the balloon climbed to almost 90,000 feet and the payload was easily recovered) this time we hit a snag. Our GPS cut out, most likely after landing (we believe it may have flipped upside down or the parachute/popped balloon landed on top of it). We have the last known coordinates, and believe that it landed somewhere in a line between its last ping on the gps and about 3 to 5 miles out from its trajectory. I searched the area as best I could, but there was not a lot of time, and I was reluctant to trespass on private property as no one was home to give permission. The payload contains a GoPro camera that should have amazing footage of the whole journey that we would really like to recover. I have maps that show its last known location in Massac County Illinois and its trajectory. We would really like to get this back, and I am offering a $100 cash reward in addition to the expense to ship it back. If you live close and are interested and would like more details let me know. Last few GPS Locations: 4/1/2021 11:48:14 AM Lat/Lng: 37.565970, -88.862880 Altitude: 31138.5 ft 4/1/2021 11:53:31 AM Lat/Lng: 37.476180, -88.780360 Altitude: 23727.0 ft 4/1/2021 11:58:51 AM Lat/Lng: 37.389770, -88.712040 Altitude: 16876.6 ft 4/1/2021 12:04:14 PM Lat/Lng: 37.316100, -88.671880 Altitude: 10567.6 ft 4/1/2021 12:09:30 PM Lat/Lng: 37.266720, -88.656740 Altitude: 5272.3 ft I have attached some pictures of what the payload looks like. It has a red parachute, and the cream colored balloon will have popped.
