CFS 768hr would be nuts if what it shows happens October 23rd to 26th or Hr 372-420. Decent snow possibly accumulating at that time. I'll take "will never happen but it's fun to look at" for $1,000 i.imgur.com/as2pGMQ.png

Heck of a indian summer. A light freeze and frost and 90 in a 48 to 60 hour period. Crazy.

Most globals seem to want to point to a pretty potent arctic intrusion around the 3rd week of October. Will be interesting to watch this one potentially unfold.

Looks to me like Delta is about to get its (his/her?) act together. Becoming more symmetrical and wouldn’t be surprised to see a much stronger storm by morning.

My gut tells me that probably holds merit...seems to fit with the pattern and timing of the longwave/hemispheric pattern lately. Could be a hard, killing freeze with that and maybe even some flakes if enough artic air is tapped.

Delta has a much larger 30 mile wide eye that is currently within a closed eyewall.

My gut tells me that probably holds merit...seems to fit with the pattern and timing of the longwave/hemispheric pattern lately. Could be a hard, killing freeze with that and maybe even some flakes if enough artic air is tapped. All related to a typhoon re-curvature off Japan. 10-14 days later usually results in a deep trough or other significant weather/pattern change November 2013 was a prime example of this as storm after storm skimmed passed Japan pumping a huge ridge in the Pacific North American Coast. While we won't see something of that kind of strength (probably), it's got it's similarities. Does seem a book-end Winter maybe what's in the works with an active cold start November into mid December with some snow, then a mild break with little to no snow followed by a potentially huge Arctic Attack in February into March. Guess we'll see how it goes. We're getting our first tastes of that new pattern in the next week or so.

00z gfs is aggressive in that time period. Looks like a legit cold shot. Major amplification across the CPAC.

Is that an eye I spy? Looks like it...pretty sheared on the NW flank though, and will continue to be. I'm guessing CAT2 or borderline 3 at landfall.

Late next week/weekend looks cold.
Unfortunately, probably 2 weeks later the nation’s public health will likely suffer. Should be instructive for data modeling purposes even if the event is transient.
Amazing how hurricane Delta is going to make landfall in almost the exact same spot as the last major hurricane

She's bombing out again. Might get to a solid cat 4 before weakening. Not sure about that. She’s still a mess though the new convection wrapping around center could be meaningful.

I don’t mind the warmth as much as the humidity ticking back up. You can feel it in the air today

I don’t mind the warmth as much as the humidity ticking back up. You can feel it in the air today Especially considering the fact that this high humidity will not improve our rain chances either. Also looks like "Summer" will try to hang around a bit longer through next week with the advertised cold snap finally arriving by next weekend.
