One heck of a light show northeast of me. Continuos rolls of thunder here. I'm right on the edge of the warning. A few rain drops so far.

Here’s some of our photos in eureka by six flags: I too was asleep, with the flu and woke up to baseballs attacking our brand new roof

Looked pretty nasty northeast of me. Lightening flashes were blues and greens. Typical of what you see during hailstorms.

It absolutely POURED late last night (11:30pm-ish) for quite some time. Not sure how much rain, but it rained and rained hard for what seemed like forever.

Didn't get much last night. Just a little lightning and some rumbles of thunder.

Just enough CAPE thru the hail zone last night. Thursday is looking like a big CAPE day with little/no cap... models are bearish on kicking anything off but something to keep an eye on.

Hey - any idea on where I can get the radar from last night? Storm came through - was loud, but not sure if any hail came through. Wanted to see what the radar looked like at the time.

Yeah... the lack of a cap is concerning...I pondered that at 1am this morning while working on my forecast...but opted to punt to the day crew for re-evaluation.

So how is our severe weather looking around these parts the weekend and next week?

Is it looking like we might be getting into a drier pattern? It's getting ridiculous trying to time cutting grass and heavy rain! On 109 this morning from Eureka High School north to Old State, there were shredded leaves covering the road! It looked like someone had used a shredder and just blew them on the road.

So how is our severe weather looking around these parts the weekend and next week? Still looks like we're going to get at least a couple shots. At this point there seems to be enough consensus in modeling to mention Saturday night into Sunday morning as the first opportunity and then perhaps again on Tuesday as having the best odds. But next week is still very much subject to change. One thing to keep in mind is that there are so many mitigating factors that can come into play in our area and in recent years you almost can't be skeptical enough about widespread organized severe weather.

Off topic but holy deep the NHL has become the NFL. the NHL has been a garage-league for a beautiful sports for decades. It somehow makes the other 3 league offices look legit time & time again.

WPC 7-day forecast shows a lot of rain falling in the Missouri and upper Mississippi drainage basins. So in addition to some severe chances we may have to consider the risk of flash flooding at some point and likely renewed strain on the big rivers.

I came across this new 3D radar app for IOS called "Weather Lab." I've had it about a day now and am really impressed so far. The app itself cost $2 on the app store which will give you access to all radar sites in the US including 3D radar. For $.99 a month or $10 a year you can get the pro subscription which includes 3D, horizontal and vertical slices of any scan and lets you view those scans in reflectivity, velocity, CC, and spectrum width. Just thought id mention it with severe season picking up. Heres a vertical slice I took of that super cell in eastern Illinois

Timing looks bad for storms here. We either need it to speed up or slow down to get in on the prime time. Late Sat into Sunday sucks
