Ahhhhh....much better. We have needed a fresh thread for a while. I'm sorry it has taken so long to throw together. The chilly weekend temperatures capped off a chilly first two weeks of May with temperatures running more than 3 degrees below normal so far. In addition, the rain has bee piling up. All but three days this May have recorded measurable rainfall at the airport...leaving us 1.57 inches above normal for the Month so far. Severe weather has been limited in our part of the country...but I suspect that will change before the season is over.

Herb garden is NOT planted. Hanging baskets and decorative pots have been in the garage and sun room for several days. Having said all of that, I am not ready for mid 80's. Have a good week everyone and I sincerely hope you don't have to take the JB Bridge to get to work.

It looks like next weekend could be wet... any initial thoughts on how widespread and if it could include severe weather or heavy rain?

This was already mentioned in the old thread, but severe weather looks to really ramp up in the midwest in the coming days.

Already starting to hear hype for the severe weather potential 6+ days out. The setup does look like a classic May severe outbreak. Still way to early to say how much, if any we will see in our area

I hope everyone has enjoyed the last couple of nice cool mornings. It's all over later this week as the warmth and humidity will be making it's unwelcome appearance, until about October.

First 600 DM 500MB ridge projected by the GFS around day 9-10 could mean close to mid to upper 90s should it verify. Summer's around the corner.

SPC has a threat area highlighted each day of their 4-8 day outlook. Can't remember the last time I saw that (if ever). Our area is highlighted on day 6 by the way. But there will likely be a lot of adjustments to these outlooks in the coming days. In any case it does appear severe weather is going to be quite active across the middle of the country starting this weekend. And there are some signals that this pattern may persist well into next week.

Just read from a friend that they got enough snow in Vermont today they may reopen the ski slope at Killington, VT for a few days.

One of the SPC forecasters (Marsh) did confirm on Twitter that this is the first time in the history of the operational D4-8 outlook (going back to 2008) that all 5 days highlighted at least a 15% risk area. Surprisingly it is the first D8 15% area as well and the discussion already mentions the possibility of upgraded probabilities.

Wow I’m surprised that’s the first D8 15% risk issued. I figured one would of been issued in the past for one of the bigger outbreaks

Herb garden is planted, decorative planters and hanging baskets are back outside. The grass is mowed.......again. The thought of 80’s and 90’s makes me sick.

In all due fairness we have managed quite a few nice spring days this year in between the rain. Last year we had about 3 days between the April cold and before the heat turned on.

Was thinking the same...we've actually had a true spring this year...not the "straight to summer" trend that has been such a common theme the past several years. It's been a nice change of pace, but the rain and flooding has been a bit much, obviously.

Just woke up to the sound of hail smashing into our tin roof out here in Wildwood. Quite loud. Quarter and larger size hail really did a job on our trees out here. Wish the pics were better but half asleep as I took them.
