Coming down like crazy here right now. Not huge flakes. Just lots of them. Visibility less than 1/4 mile. But everything is still just wet for now.

I don't expect to see anymore accumulation. But that's ok because nothing beats this floating large flaked light snow. If we do get a nice burst of heavy snow after 4pm at least it will accumulate well. And of course the sky opened up as soon as I posted that.

Up to 27 confirmed tornadoes from Saturday in Illinois now. According the Lincoln office that is the 3rd largest single day outbreak ever for IL.

When I left the house an hour ago we reached 3” on the patio table. Heading back that way now will measure again when I get home. Still wondering if I’ll be throwing salt tonight

Still wondering if I’ll be throwing salt tonight Salted my driveway and patio just a few mins ago. Probably not a bad idea with lows in the mid 20s forecasted and more wetness then expected say a day or 2 ago.

That 12z euro at the end of its run though lol. Check out the 250mb winds. I'm trying to think if I've seen a pattern like that before. Actually the evolution from today to D10 is marked by many energetic jet streaks from both the northern and southern streams. You'd think this would kick start some active weather in the next couple of weeks. GEFS and EPS have a strong signal for troughing in this time frame so although these deterministic runs are likely mostly noise there's clearly a broader signal in place for active weather from a ensemble perspective as well.

Looks like the big dark green and yellow area will track right down I-64 once it crosses the river. I could see a quick inch or inch and a half fall where that passes.

Looks like we've mounted a half inch very quickly. Still coming down though it has let up a little. Graupel has diminished back to light snow. Looking West down North Belt the sky is whited out. And now it's pouring snow. That happened in under 30 seconds. Parts of North St. Louis and St Charles could be getting 3"

I have to say, that this little system is one of the stranger looking things I have ever seen . Add this occurred more at night then I think we would have been in trouble for sure with 3 to 4" totals much more common than dusting

The radar looks much beefier over chesterfield than it really is. It is barely snowing at 64 and clarckson right now... and I am under 30-35 dbz on all sides.

Maybe it's really coming down aloft or it's picking up one some partial melting? That or it's saving it up for Illinois? (Insert headscratch emote)

The Madison IL area should pick up a couple inches.

Looks like we've mounted a half inch very quickly. Still coming down though it has let up a little. Yeah picked up a half inch. Pretty amazing. We'll see if that stuff over STL doesn't miss us to the North. The hires nam doesnt even have the peak lift moving through our county until after 6pm.
