Things should pop over south central MO any minute now. A little concerned about hail potential with these cells.

Tornado Watch has been issued. Could get nasty down here over the next couple hours. Showers just starting to pop.

This seems to be the most serious incident that occurred in Perry Count, MO, with this morning’s storms. This is in northern Perry County, close to the Mississippi River.

Not to detract from the this afternoon's pending events as we wait for storms to really get going, but I think we're going to have to consider the possibility of overnight/morning convection spoiling the atmosphere on Saturday for some parts of MO in terms of severe chances. ECM, GFS, and NAM are all unanimous on an MCS (albeit weakening) making into MO Saturday morning.

Got my lawn mowed and other odds and ends of chores done to get ready for the rain, which of course means that none will come. Looking at trends I'm surprised NWS still has 60% pops this far north, thinking more like a 20% or even less will do. For the central and northern thirds of the area it's on to Saturday otherwise it looks like it won't rain for awhile with mega upper level ridge building in for next week. Looks hellish as well, especially Wednesday onwards, talking heat warning type stuff.

Mr. Higgins I just saw you reporting at Valle football field where crews were cleaning up tree damage from this morning storms. If you need more footage in Valle Springs neighborhood ( close to your location) there is a large tree down over a sidewalk right before the first house as you enter. There is also a flagpole bent in half or over from this morning in that neighborhood. There are also large limbs down by a residence in front of the middle school. I would have stopped and said hello and grabbed a selfie but I'm heading north with my 4 yr old son to the Cardinals game. I also figured you have a pretty busy night and were probably going to stay down this way with redevelopment and needed to be respectful of that. Stay safe, last time you were down this way my hometown of Perryville took a hit from a strong tornado.

The latest SPC day one outlook moves the greatest risk further south. Even the marginal is no longer covering the city.

Looks like the majority of the activity is going to even be south of me. Not developing much at all just yet.

Still some time for things to come together, but maybe further south than thought There is a band of towering cumulus and some radar returns from Pike Co. down towards Jeff City, but for the most part the air mass has struggled to destabilize across the region behind thus mornings debris.

There are some unusually strong anticyclonic left movers down there. Three of them are severe warned and are likely dropping some large hail.

|
Post by bdgwx on May 31, 2018 18:28:54 GMT -6
There's not a single storm chaser on any of those left movers which is a shame because at least one of them could be close to showing a rare anticyclonic supercell funnel.
