3.65” in Arnold today
That gives me roughly 16” the last month
Wish I was talking snow and not rain

3.08” and 141/44 Fenton / Valley Park line. All delivered by Mother Nature in about 1.5 hrs. Streets and yards looked like flowing creeks the whole time!

4.97 storm total in south st.peters. months total currently. 12.97. I'm curious what your set up and clearances are. Just trying to see if you are set up properly because I checked several sites on the ambient weather map along Willow and they are all in the 3-3.25 inch range. LSX Doppler Storm totals in that area are also much lower. If you want, I can find the PDF from the nws on proper station set up.

Thank you John G, if you can send me that would be great.
Last few storms it seemed to be accurate, but today just piled on really fast.
I would love to make sure it is in the right spot.
I'm just wondering if the rain rates threw it out of calibration if that is a thing.

The getting started slide show is good: www.cocorahs.org/Content.aspx?page=training_slideshowsI used this PDF: www.weather.gov/media/epz/mesonet/CWOP-Siting.pdfIt's about studying your location and selecting the best site on your property. Many are setup wrong or people buy inaccurate manual gauges. I'm going to get a cocorahs approved manual gauge eventually to compare to. Mine is mounted 6 feet above the peak of the roof at the edge of the house. It's the most open location on my property. I'm satisfied that I'm fairly accurate with everything.

Tomorrow mid morning, check out this map for a good idea of how much rain fell in your area. maps.cocorahs.org/Everyone should be using the same type of 4" manual plastic rain gauge. Most people report on the previous day between 7-8am. There are some stragglers through the day. If a rain event started overnight, you may need to do a multi-day report to get the full event.

1.2" so far in Maplewood. Another 2.8" on top of that giving a 4.0" total so far. Emptied and started again. Another .4 emptied after that so 4.4" for me out of this event.

So what happened to create this event and bust the forecast so badly?

Too mesoscale for the models to handle

So what happened to create this event and bust the forecast so badly? Hard to say it was a busted forecast when strong storms and heavy rainfall was expected...I just don't think anyone expected to get 6"+ of rainfall in a couple hours and that was basically impossible to forecast until it was starting to unfold.

Big CAPE days seem to always give the models fits
Lots of boom or bust involved

Hey it’s raining again…
We didn’t get a ton earlier today in Perryville. The heaviest stuff really never went much south of Ste. Gen.

Not sure if this was mentioned here or not, but apparently planes were left on the tarmac at ORD Monday night while the air traffic control tower was evacuated during the tornado warning. I wonder if that's in the ops manual.

I wonder if that's in the ops manual. Great question. Somewhat related, there was a picture circulating yesterday where all the air traffic around the MCS was avoiding it like the plague. And understaably so. Just thought I'd share that info having read your comment.
