Low, rumbling my arsešš I have not seen lightning like this in a long long time. I can't believe how close the lightning was hitting to the house. Must have had 15 to 20 strikes within 50 to 75 ft of the house. Power went out for about 1 second and came right back on. Can't believe we didn't lose power during that. Just checked the rain gauge I can add another 1.5". I must have had an obstruction in the pipe going under my driveway cuz that part of the storm Creek filled up and was overflowing across my driveway but thankfully it just went across the driveway into the grass and Into the Storm Creek on the other side. This runoff should have really helped our pond out.

Lost power about an hour ago. Still off. Storm rolled through and looked nasty to my south around potosi and Bonne Terre. Lightning was insane. I agree itās been a long time since we had lightning like that striking so close back to back.

This is absolutely one of the strongest thunderstorms Iāve experienced in my 34 years. Unbelievable lightning, small hail, and winds pushing 60+. WOW.

Iām not sure Iāve seen constant strobe lightning like this outside of the 2006, 2017, and 2021 tornadic supercells either. Just crazy stuff.

No power 7 miles SW of Perryville. Iām guessing 60-70 mph winds came through, near Silver Lake.

2 areas of concern. I think the STL metro might be spared... I can't see me getting anything substantial here in Lincoln Co.

I received an additional .75" overnight for a total, so far, of 2.25". That should go up with a severe storm heading in my direction. Stay safe everyone.
Edit: Wow, a nice 'shunt' to the south of the heavier core of this severe storm. Severe part looks to miss me but still raining pretty good.

I got up around 11 and it looked like an early 2000ās night club walking around the house. Sat on the back porch facing southwest and enjoyed the show for awhile. Pretty impressive.

Living where no one lives has many advantages and wouldnāt trade it for the world. Losing power and hoping itās restored quickly after a widespread event is not one of them . That being said, I canāt imagine repairing poles/transformers in the middle of heavy rain and lightning. Very grateful for our local coop (Citizens electric), and any help they received. They took a pretty big hit, and there are still quite a few without power down this way.

It looks like the immediate metro definitely escaped the significant amounts of rain to the W/SW and far NE. I was on the SW fringe of the NE band and had almost 2.5" with much much more to my NE. Areas to my SW saw very little to virtually nothing.
Edit: Places on the N side of town are reporting over 3".

What an incredible 7 hours of lightning. Just crazy.
My garage does not have power, but the rest of the house does. I reset the breakers a couple times but no success. Any advice would be appreciated!

Squeezed out 2.12 inches this week in St.Peters total. So not what was modeled but definately a soaking that was beneficial.
.77 came last night in 20 min.
However our northern folks from quincy to Litchfield are the worst of the drought now.
I saw quincy is running a 8 to 9 inch deficit this year.

Any advice would be appreciated! Start hunting down the GFCI outlets. When you find it, press the reset button on it and see if you have juice again

This system looked scary similar to the winter systems we follow (at least with the end result). Dry donut hole ish shape over the immediate STL metro. Thoughts go to all the southern counties, plus west, and out near and around Jefferson City, and lastly areas just east of Salem, IL where a dangerous amount of rain fell. According to this estimated map at least (from the NWS), looks like just ESE of Salem got the most rain (near a foot)! It will be interesting to see what rain gauges in the hardest hit areas record and how that compares to this map.

The Davis on the roof in North St. Pete is, once again, disappointed with his .50" from last night. "Storm" total 1.1" I know it's more than some received and I am grateful despite the whining.........

Any advice would be appreciated! Lightning could have fried the breaker itself. Check for voltage on both sides of it or check the breaker for continuity.

Another .25" was added since 6am for a total of 2.5" for the last 24 hrs. Looking back on my post that brings the total 2 day rainfall to 4.75" which is pretty close to the radar estimates of 5" around me, 7 miles west of De Soto. The pond is very close to spillway level looking from across the field.

Thanks for the advice everyone. Thankfully it was as simple as could be, just had to reset the gfi in the garage.
