I have VIL related question. The website hailstrike.com produces hail reports for a given address. I have one that was pulled by my contractor and it uses Evansville as the data for size, speed, and direction. Would Evansville show larger or smaller hail at the same point in Belleville than the STL radar site? Likely larger since it’s located further away and looking higher up in the storm.

Finally bit the bullet and got Radarscope. There just isn't much decent free radar sites these days. Got the PC version and even the addition of pro isn't terrible in cost for only 10 bucks a year, after the initial 30 buck price tag.

That's a helluva split just north of STL to the light showers over me, 7 miles west of De Soto.

Depends on your definition of clear, I suppose. The people in Wentzville currently getting hit with a bunch of hail might disagree.

Metro looks clear for the evening Not really, lol The outflow nosing into the Metro is going to keep firing storms just behind it. The overall severe threat is low for the Metro, but there could still be some hail and gusty winds

I was at work. With no windows. But luckily for me I was by a huge dock door. So I got to see most of it.

I had a shower where I could count the raindrops on the pavement. Hoping for a downpour at least.

O/T--does anyone have luck transplanting marigolds from starter trays? Two years in a row with not much luck. Too early?

My wife starts marigold from seeds in the cell trays which I'm assuming is what you are saying. She doesn't put them out until May 15th. She will start other 'warm weather' plants in the garden from seed 2 weeks before May 15th. She has not had any issues with marigolds. They take off pretty good 'once established'. Hope that helps.

We usually buy trays from either the local FFA or a nursery. Everything else does fine, except the marigolds. Last year only a couple survived (I blamed it on the DD planting them instead of me). This year, we have bigger plans on Mothers Day weekend when we usually do the outside planting (other DD getting married), so I planted a whole flat of them last weekend. I'd say half or more have gotten that "purple" color on the foliage that usually spells doom. Maybe I was just too early this year. I told the wife that next year (or maybe this year still) we'd just plant them from seeds outside and see what happens. We always had them around the house growing up as a kid, and I'm sure we just did it the old-fashioned way.

Just direct sow seeds when the soil *finally* warms up
I'm trying to be patient with putting these leggy tomatoes and peppers in the ground, but nature is testing me this year.

I'm not sure Chris wants the liability of us making recommendations, though. Might need to take that to another page.
