Wouldn't it be simpler to make standard time permanent. We're talking about the government here...simplicity need not apply

Yep- they will probably end up subtracting 30 minutes in the morning and and adding 30 minutes in the evening… too satisfy everyone

It's funny reading comments on Facebook that don't seem to understand that you are not making the sun shine for a longer period each day. Scientific illiteracy is a huge problem in our country. If we want to enjoy more light in the evening or morning, we will need to adjust work/school hours at different times of the year. I'm not sure if that makes things more or less complicated than daylight savings time, lol.

everyone knows daylight saving time means physically slowing down the earth's rotation to keep the sun up an extra hour everyday. I mean, duh.

The same people who don't care about the concerns of farmers because they can just go to the grocery store to get food. Or the one's that say we don't need oil because they use Uber.

Yep- they will probably end up subtracting 30 minutes in the morning and and adding 30 minutes in the evening… too satisfy everyone So easy. Just fall back half an hour since we already sprung ahead an hour and then get the rest of the world on board with it those still on standard time spring ahead a half hour those already sprung ahead fall back a half hour and call it Global Universal Time or GUT. So simple a cave man can do it (TM). The tricky part is getting the rest of the planet on board. Then after that just leave the dang clocks alone.

Also watch out on Friday late morning and afternoon. If the low slows down a few hours or tracks a bit more northwest we may have a small tornado and marginal hail threat from the metro and points southeast.

21st into 23rd is a severe potential as well with a massive storm launching out of New Mexico ahead of my trip there on the 24th. Main threat looks fairly well south of here but could be a dozy in the ArkLaTex region into Mississippi and parts of Tennessee. GEM says we get wet snow showers on the 23rd.

DT Weather from the Mid-Atlantic but does farm and agriculture forecasts for the entire country says we have a (30%) of a 2012 Repeat due to rapidly building drought to the northwest with us in the center by July into August (of the dry anomalies) I don't see that yet especially east of the Mississippi River but we'll be potentially on the outer edge. It was also just as likely we end up with significant MCS trains similar to late May into June 2004 (30%)or a wet start with a dry finish as far as Summer and late Spring go (40%).

Lastly we could be soon making weather/climate history with a 3 year long Nina, which at least since Satellite Records and massive Buoy observations has yet to have occurred. That could change this year with some global repercussions.

Fukushima Japan was hit with a massive Earthquake a couple hours or less ago. Tsunami Warnings issued. Not as big as the 2011 but major @ magnitude of 7.3.

It was feared this word caused panic, but in 1950 the USWB ended a ban on it in forecasts, saying prediction wasn’t impossible.
