Light snow in Perryville as well but not sticking at the moment. Maybe this is a sign we can overachieve tonight? Ha, I can wish.

Nice to wake up to some white in the trees and on the grass. I went through some radar loops and the returns that are/were dropping the snow are traveling from southeast to northwest with the line sagging southwest. Maybe this is some early signals/indications of some Gulf moisture getting pulled in? ? Maybe more wishful thinking but it is clearly very low level because the satellite loop on all 3 water vapor loops is showing flow out of the southwest moving northeast over us right now.

I am proud to be the only one reporting plain ol drizzle .... not sure how but that’s what we have lol That's surprising. Usually your weather translates to where I am in some form or fashion and I have a full blown light snow right now.

It’s pretty crazy, most models have a defined snow hole right over the metro. This is not our year . Hopefully something changes but a dusting might be hard to come by. There’s basically a transfer of energy as the western and southern precipitation moves in around 5-6 then it goes poof and reforms north east of here towards central Illinois

Just some quick obs on the satellite WV loops. If you look on 12z 3K nam 500mb vort map and start it at -6hr you can see a small closed 5580 vort in western Nebraska that then joins with our storm coming out of TX. at initialization time of 12z. Then if you continue through 4 hrs on the model to 16z you noticed that the northwest corner of the 500mb flow tightens up and makes an almost perfect 90 degree corner in Nebraska. Now if you look at the "high level' WV loop you can actually see this occuring. You can also clearly see the 'vorticity' coming into southern MO and 'sharpening up' to go 'negative' per the model. Satellite goes to roughly 16z (10am) right now. Pretty neat but we need the 'Teachers' in here to explain/teach what we need to be watching for as the system comes together, i.e. "the models show this but the system is doing this" type of thing. Thanks in advance.

We need quality moisture and we just don't have it. Same old story...either have the good track and no moisture or there's no cold air supply. We've seen this several times so far this season.
So it goes in the Metro region...

Jumped to 35° and it sounds like it’s raining moderately in the woods. Was walking in the woods for a peaceful stress reliever but didn’t bring an umbrella 😊

I am on I44 by Rolla. There are pockets of light snow even in areas with no radar echoes so it must be getting produced underneath the beam.
