JB on weather bell is saying last half of January is going to be cold and stormy Timing matches well with the SSW and associated Polar Vortex displacement and/or split. If the split happens around the 5th, then 10-14 days later would make sense for a meaningful response in the troposphere. I think the 20th-31st could be our peak winter.

JB on weather bell is saying last half of January is going to be cold and stormy I'm cautiously optimistic for a big storm in the second half of this month. The large scale pattern looks favorable for a stormy eastern half of the US and the NAO and AO are going in the basement

Nothing on the radars I have access to, but light snow falling at my house. I’ll take it.

Models indicating that some area in central Illinois could be jackpotted with 5-8" of snow in a county or 2 sized area. Intriguing...

Also the show is over for areas south of I-70. What you see is what you got. Which for most was nothing or a very light dusting. It's better than 14 days straight of sunny weather I suppose. Of course unless your into that kind of thing.

Even if the SSW disruption doesn't work totally in our favor to step up more favorable winter weather here during the second part of Jan, I/you'd think it will at least be better than the current weather pattern we're in!
