I always like to watch the wildlife in the day or two before a storm.
Tons of bird activity today.

I'd take another 16.5 inch storm. That was my third 16 inch plus storm since I’ve lived in Columbia. 06, 11 and 19

Ya we ended up getting about 11.5 inches during that Jan storm. It melted and compacted pretty fast too if i remember. I don't think all of it did, but it got real wet amd sloppy the next day.

I love the cloudy, cold atmosphere... no leaves on the trees. Feels like pure winter outside.

I love the feeling right before a winter storm, but nothing gets my juices going like the feeling right before a major severe weather outbreak. It’s almost like you can “feel” the energy in the atmosphere

Certainly riding a fine line on precip types and accumulations looking at the zone forecast.
Shows 5-7 in Columbia and 2 inches 30 miles away in Jeff City.
Fun times for the meteorologists!

We took the 4-year-old grandkid to the St. Charles Main Street Christmas festivities this afternoon. It was cold, cold, cold. However, it was tolerable due to the buildings and all the people. What a great time it was! Truly an old fashioned Christmas celebration.

Sure looks like totals for Franklin County are really going need a bump up from that 2” total. That GFS is a thing of beauty!

It was cold and windy putting wreaths out for Wreaths Across America. Amazing to see the huge amt of volunteers out helping. Over 20k wreaths put on graves in about 1.5hrs. Twice as many as last year. Still 160k short.

Using the cobb method and factoring in compaction, the 18z NAM has just under 5" of measured snow at Lambert after wave 2

The RAP continues to trend further South.
So much so with WAVE #1:
It has the main axis of accumulating snow along and SE of I44.

I actually just found it a few days ago. You can configure everything about the graphs on the right-hand side
This article helps explain some of it
